Patients come into a cancer diagnosis with a lifetime of lived experiences\, including those viewed as positive as well as adverse childhood experiences.  A cancer diagnosis initiates an existential spiritual crisis that provides a unique opportunity to focus on the psychosocial emotional wellbeing of the individual. Antidepressants fail miserably in oncology patients.
