Reflecting upon our personal journeys through life, as board members we strive to improve the lives of women and men with breast cancer.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for those at high risk for or diagnosed with breast cancer through holistic healing modalities, education, and lifestyle changes.
We provide the funding for services to empower them, and their families, to reduce their risk factors and realize their full healing potential. Our vision is for individuals to understand the essence of healing comes from within.
The HCF works to achieve Dr. DuPree’s vision to provide healing therapies essential to overall health and wellness. Our experienced Board of Directors, volunteers and practitioners care deeply about each individual’s needs.
The Healing Consciousness Foundation (HCF), a 501 C3 non-profit organization, was founded by nationally recognized breast cancer surgeon, Dr. Beth Baughman DuPree in 2007 after the publication of the first edition of her her book The Healing Consciousness: A Doctor’s Journey to Healing. Dr. DuPree believes that conventional Western medicine integrated with Eastern modalities helps one achieve the balance they need to begin the healing process.
Founders Message
Although as physicians we may be powerless to cure each and every person that we treat for breast cancer, as a foundation, we have the ability to promote, and empower healing of the body mind and spirit. Thank you for believing in our mission and vision. Being part of a community of hospitals we have proven that our commitment is to care for our patients and defeat our only true competition: CANCER.
We lead by example and teach the world that adopting a healthy lifestyle benefits those affected by cancer and prevents the disease process that leads to the formation of breast cancer. Our efforts concentrate on educating women and men in disease prevention, as well as to motivate and empower them to enlist all body, mind, and spirit modalities in the fight against disease while undergoing treatment. We continue to educate young breast cancer surgeons through the breast cancer survivorship experience about what survivorship truly entails for their patients.
The HCF has funded support groups, grief-counseling programs, retreats and educational programs with guest speakers for patients, spouses, caregivers, children of patients, and nursing staff. Through the generous support of our community, we offered our first program in 2007 and have continued to add new services and programs every year. Healthcare insurance covers the costs of the basic surgery but does not include coverage for future prevention of another cancer, lifestyle improvement or integrative and holistic services that promotes healing and stress reduction. Every new service or program HCF adds, benefits more individuals at high-risk or diagnosed with breast cancer.
Our programs help our breast cancer survivors become THRIVERS. We have helped thousands of individuals by providing nutritional counseling, fitness classes, meditation, guided imagery, Reiki, massage, reflexology, acupuncture, yoga and other holistic therapies essential to overall wellness and healing.
